| Obtaining
Information
Information
on PLCs can be obtained from numerous sources, i.e. via the
print and broadcast media, through wire services like Reuters
and Bloomberg, over the internet etc. The sources of information
listed below are readily accessible to all investors.

Annual
reports provide a useful update of the company’s
activities over the previous year and contain information
on all the areas highlighted above.
Investors
should note that from 1 January 2002, amendments to
the Listing Requirements of the KLSE call for
the board of directors of listed companies to incorporate
in the annual report a statement on how they have applied
the principles and complied with the best practices
outlined in the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance.
This includes a statement on the state of internal control
within the group as a whole.
For
existing shareholders, the annual report would contain
enough information for them to raise pertinent questions
to the directors and senior management at annual general
meetings. For potential investors, the annual report
should facilitate assessment of the worth of the company
before deciding whether or not to invest. |
