Lesson 1: Why invest?

Suppose you wish to buy a condominium in a prime building overlooking the skyline of the Kuala Lumpur golden triangle. The agent tells you that there are only two units left. One unit is on a high floor with a spectacular view. The other is on the ground. The agent tells you that should there be a fire, you could easily escape from the ground floor unit but the view is not as good. Price is the same. Which unit would you buy?

Take a few minutes to think about your answer. It has a lot to do with what kind of investment is suitable for you. If you choose the view, it means you are a risk-taker. If you choose the ground floor, it shows you are cautious. There is nothing wrong with being cautious or being a risk taker. You should choose investments you are comfortable with.
