Investment scheme for low-income groups starts today (The Star, 30 January 2012)

PETALING JAYA: Starting today, households with a monthly income of less than RM3,000 can apply for the Government's special savings scheme, Skim Amanah Rakyat (Sara) 1Malaysia.

The scheme, which will benefit around 100,000 households, allows those eligible to invest up to RM5,000.

This sum can be paid in cash or obtained through loans.

In return, participants will enjoy monthly returns of RM134, or RM50 if a loan was obtained.
