Malaysia Bunkering Breakthrough

For the first time, ships calling at Northport, Westport and Port Klang can now secure bunker supplies directly from onshore facility. Operated by Westport Bunkering Services, the dedicated bunkering facility is committed to supplying high quality bunker fuel to ships calling at Westport.
Our bunker fuel meets the international standard of ISO 8217 which is being followed by the rest of the developed markets. Although new in the bunker business, nothing will be compromised in terms of quality and safety standards.

We operate two barges with a capacity of 3,000 and 1,000 tonnes each. The barges supply three types of bunker products namely 380cst fuel oil, 180cst fuel oil and marine gas oil to customers around the region and we hope to sell 500,000 tonnes by the third year of operations.

Roads – Access Links

Good surface (road and rail) connections are a must for all advanced ports and Westport is no exception. Accessibility to Westport received a boost with the opening of the Shah Alam Expressway link which connects the port to the nation’s major growth areas.
The 34.5 km expressway is connected to the national grid which links the entire length and breadth of Peninsular Malaysia. The four-lane Shah Alam Expressway stretches from Seri Petaling on the southern outskirts of Kuala Lumpur to the West Highway in Klang. The new expressway has ample parking bays for long-haul trailers and hauliers. Trucks using the expressway can have access to the South Klang Valley corridor and at least three major road transport systems, namey the North-South Expressway, the Puchong-Damansara Expressway and the North-South Expressway Central Link.
Westport is also directly linked to the national grid via other major road networks, the South Klang Valley Expressway and West Coast Expressway. It is also expected to benefit from the proposed Johor Bahru-Sepang Coastal Highway which is being planned as an alternative to the North-South Expressway.

The new link from Northport to Westport, which reduces travel time for hauliers from 45 minutes to 15 minutes to reach Westport, is another effort towards increasing transshipment traffic between the two terminals.
